For the A:Shiwi (The People) carved frogs are considered rain-bringing, associated with abundance, fertility and cleansing. Davis Coonsis carved a delightful life-like Frog from a gorgeous speckled serpentine and polished it to a glassy finish. Special eyes are from jet in iridescent gold lip shell, resembling the eyes of the Hyalinobatrachium dianae species, a fascinating frog from Costa Rica. About 1 1/2" long, 1 1/4" wide and 5/8" tall.
