Sea Otter With Pup

By Stevan Natachu

This offering is sold.
Indigenous Coastal communities have coexisted with sea otters and shellfish for thousands of years. Because of the fur trade that started in the 1700's and other non-Native interference, sea otter and other animal populations have suffered. Nowadays, conventional science is realizing that incorporating Indigenous science and knowledge aides in restoring marine landscapes. Stevan Natachu's ricolite otter floats with its adorable pup from shell. Eyes are from turquoise inlays and a mosaic tail is overlaid with mother-of-pearl jet, spiny oyster shell and turquoise. About 3 3/8" long, 5/8" wide and 3/4" tall.
