Quail Chick

By Robert Michael Weahkee

Animal: Quail, Material: Antler
This offering is sold.
New Mexico is home to four species of quail who belong to the pheasant and partridge species. Although they are one of the most abundant non-migratory bird species in the state, a decline in their numbers is due to lost habitat, the diminished quality of their remaining habitat and drought via climate change. They can only fly for short distances. These delightful birds are a joy to observe, as their movements and sweetness enchant. Robert Michael Weahkee's burnished antler quail chick has an adorable top knot. Eyes are from turquoise inlays. A gorgeous amber, quartz and lemon quartz offering necklace is secured to this approximately 4 1/2" long, 1 3/4" wide and 2 1/4" tall bird friend.
