Pine Forest Bison

By Andres Lementino

Animal: Bison, Material: Pinolith
This offering is sold.

Pinolith stone is named for the appearance of magnesite inclusions that resemble pine kernels. Bison are nomadic grazers who even visit pine forests. In prehistoric days, millions of beneficial bison walked North America, from the forests of Alaska and the grasslands of Mexico to the eastern Appalachian Mountains and places beyond. Andres Lementino's magnificent buffalo is carved from pinolith and inlaid with a stunning Zuni Sunface symbol from turquoise, apple coral, lapis, mother-of-pearl and jet. The stone to stone inlay work on the Sunface is impressive. Eyes and horns are from turquoise. About 4" long, 1 3/8" wide and 2 3/4" tall.
