Stunning opals are the national gemstone of Peru. Peruvian pink opals are found in desert locales of the Andes Mountains that formed in fissures of rock often rich in silica. They are revered as a gift from the Incan goddess Pachamama by Indigenous Andean cultures. Dee Edaakie's walking Mountain-lion (puma, panther or cougar) is sculpted from a lovely Peruvian pink opal to a size of approximately 2 1/4" long, 7/8" wide and 1 1/4" tall. Bright eyes are from turquoise inlays. A common nutmeg shell, red coral and fine pen shell beads adorn the refreshing offering bundle.
