A fine Horse makes us feel the passage of time as it has an old-style feeling to it. It's been carved by Lorandina Sheche whose grandfather was the late Theodore Kucate, an early recognized Zuni Pueblo artist who used to collect rocks from the river to create his fetishes. His family was also famous because of their traveling traditional dance troupe. He taught his daughter Thelma Sheche who was Lorandina's mother, to carve. Interesting mother-of-pearl inlaid eyes and an elegant turquoise offering grace this approximately 2 1/4" long, 5/8" wide and 1 1/8" tall collectible equine fetish from a verdant serpentine.
