An old-style
Eagle (or
Hawk) is essentially carved from found stone originating from the sacred lands at Cochiti Pueblo. Artist Salvador Romero says "The stone has the animal in it. I just find it." The streamlined raptor with incised tail feathers rests on an oversized chert point accompanied by bright coral and turquoise beads, among others. About 7 3/4" long, 1 3/4" wide and 2 1/2" tall.
