A jaw-dropping fetish pendant necklace by Stewart Quandelacy and Priscilla Lasiloo is one to own, it's truly special. Two luscious strands of lapis lazuli and colorful spiny oyster shell beads hold a mighty turquoise Medicine-bear pendant, which itself measures about 1 7/8" long including naja and 1 3/4" wide. An elegantly carved naja or crescent shape on the reversible Bear pendant is a design the Quandelacy family originated. The naja is carved right into the stone's center, instead of attaching a metal bale. This dynamic style was started by the late Johnny Quam and continued by his daughter Ellen Quandelacy right down the family line. A turquoise alternating heartline and eyes are meticulously inlaid. Other exquisitely carved animals include birds such as Eagle and Hummingbird, Mountain-lion, bushytail (Coyote, Wolf or Fox) and Mole, Rabbit and Beaver. They are masterfully sculpted from rich turquoise, Picasso marble, spiny oyster shell, lapis, coral, leopard marble, leopard jasper, perhaps bumblebee jasper, gold lip mother-of-pearl shell and chrysocolla. Expressive eyes are from inlaid turquoise or coral. The animal's average in size from roughly 3/4" long to 1 5/8" long.
