Little African Lion

By Robert Michael Weahkee

Animal: African Lion, Material: Antler
This offering is sold.
We asked Robert Michael Weahkee if he always worked with antler. He shared: "Not really, I started out carving rocks. I belong to a family of carvers, I learned from my aunt Lena Boone. I used to accompany her to shows... I prefer to carve deer antler now. Since my family carves rocks it is a way to set myself apart. And all of the antlers are shed, which means they were dropped naturally in the wild." His sweetest African lion is carved from burnished antler. A gorgeous necklace has citrine and quartz beads that contrast nicely with adorable cat's bright blue turquoise eyes. About 7/8" tall, 1 5/8" wide and 1 3/8" deep.
