The Zuni Pueblo People say that their human ancestors came on Earth only after passing through a series of four underworlds or the “levels of emergence”. These underworlds were dark, wet and chaotic places. When The People began to emerge on dry land, powerful predatory animals already roamed here. The People called upon the Creator to help them with these beasts. The heroic War Twins were dispatched with weapons of lightning bolts striking the animals, shrinking them and turning them to stone with the exception of their hearts. The hearts of the animals were beating inside the stone and were now entrusted with helping the People. The original fetish animals were natural stones which resembled the animals like Wilson Romero's approximately 5 1/4" long, 2" wide and 3 1/4" tall Bear. The found stone's natural striations call to mind the weapons of lighting bolts.
