Melissa Oliver's grandmother was the late jeweler Effie Calavaza. Melissa continues with the snake motif in her jewelry designs originated and popularized by Effie during her long career as a jeweler. Beginning in 2002, Melissa began assisting Effie with stone work and buffing. Encouraged by her grandmother, Melissa expanded her talents to include silversmithing, becoming a jeweler in her own right. Effie's children were Gloria, the late Randy and Susie who is Melissa's mother. Joy is Randy's wife and is still doing jewelry along side Melissa and Gloria. Melissa's sterling silver, Kingman turquoise and coral Snake pendant is approximately 1" long without bale and 3/4" wide. It comes with a complimentary 18" long sterling silver chain.
