In western New Mexico, Ramah Lake located near the Zuni reservation is a hidden oasis of fragrant pine trees, tranquil waters and stunning red rocks. Jayne Quam's gentle Turtle with turquoise eyes is carved from Picasso marble set with a colorful mosaic that calls to mind an enchanting night scene reminiscent of the red rocks and peaceful waters of Ramah Lake. This nightscape is composed from crushed chrysocolla, tidgilite, alunite, serpentine, spiny oyster shell, crushed lapis lazuli, rhyolite, augite in serpentine, abalone, pen shell, young fluorite, onyx and turquoise. About 2 3/4" long, 2" wide and 1/2" tall.
