Zuni elders Stewart Quandelacy and Priscilla Lasiloo Quandelacy are masters when it comes to carving Bears. In fact, their rounded-back bears have almost become the classic Zuni fetish. Stewart's artistry descends through his late mother Ellen Quandelacy who learned the art of fetish carving from her father Johnny Quam. Smoothly carved, Medicine-Bear's healing energy is brought out via the natural diagonal patterns within the spirit stone fluorite adding a powerful aesthetic. Eyes and an alternating heartline or breath path are set with sky blue turquoise. About 2 1/8" long, 3/8" wide and roughly 1 1/4" tall.
