Occasionally sea otters will come ashore to rest and conserve energy, warm up and to heal during times of injury and sickness. This activity is known as hauling out. Smoothly carved from dolomite, Melvin Sandoval's sea otter has come aground and enjoys the beach view through etched eyes. A little sea shell and turquoise offering is secured between the paws of this approximately 4 1/4" long, 7/8" wide and 1 1/2" tall lovely marine animal.
