The late Andres Quandelacy was well-known for relatively small, exquisitely carved table fetishes. He also created wonderful animals for fetish necklaces. His mother Ellen Quandelacy was widely known as both a stone carver and a jeweler. Ellen taught Andres well because his creatures have a special presence. Sculpted from cheerful orange spiny oyster shell, a powerful Bear is about 2 1/4" long, 3/8" wide and 1 1/4" tall. Sky blue eyes and a heartline or breath path are from turquoise inlays. We love the two-tone quality, if you will, of the shell specimen so it is like getting two carvings in one.
