The name cuprite is derived from the Latin word cuprum meaning copper because of a high copper content. A colorful mineral, it's found in and around copper deposits, the same type of area turquoise is found. Christopher Sandoval's gentle Bear has been brought forth from a gorgeous cuprite specimen imbued with rich reddish and verdant hues to a size of approximately 2 3/4" long, 3/4" wide and 2" tall.
