Charismatic Piñon Jaybird

By Robert Michael Weahkee

Animal: Bird, Material: Antler
This offering is sold.
Living in the general Great Basin region of the West, the charismatic piñon jaybird species is vital to piñon tree propagation feeding on their seeds. These dusty blue-hued songbirds are in serious decline and need us to speak up for them to enact protection from the Endangered Species Act. Lively corvids, they walk around in a sweet strut and beautify landscapes with their spirit and color. Robert Michael Weahkee's piñon jaybird is carved from burnished antler and has lapis inlaid eyes. A tiny offering necklace has gorgeous aquamarine, quartz and lapis beads. About 3" tall, 1" wide and 1 5/8" deep.
