Animal: Condor, Material: Picasso Marble
This offering is sold.

Some Indigenous cultures from the Pacific Northwest and California revere condors as beings with great spiritual power even giving traditional dances to honor them. After the arrival of European colonizers, both Native Peoples and condors suffered genocidal attacks. The condors were shot or poisoned. Today the California condor is Critically Endangered. Lead ammunition fragments in dead animals poisons condors as they consume leftovers, which is the leading cause of death. We can help out by keeping trash and micro trash fragments where they belong, far away from wildlife as they are a choking hazard for these magnificent birds. They keep Mother Earth clean as their highly-acidic digestive systems destroy toxins and bacteria found in rotting flesh, that if left alone would spread disease to us. Hudson Sandy's outstanding California condor is masterfully carved from lovely Picasso marble and colorful apple coral. The exquisite layered plumage is breathtaking. Vigilant eyes are from jet in turquoise inlays. Approximately 2 3/4" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 1 7/8" deep.
