Archaen or Archean butterstone is a variety of serpentine originating from South Africa. The name reflects its formation during Mother Earth's earliest geological period, the Archean. The late Edison Bobelu's delightful parrot is sculpted from butterstone to a perched dimension of roughly 1 1/4" long, 7/8" wide and 1 1/4" tall. Chatty eyes are from turquoise accented with ink, while a wonderful beak is from jet.
