On a recent visit to our Keshi gallery, we were in the happy company of noted Zuni artists Bernard and Kenric Laiwakete. Unique heartlines and stylized animal forms have become distinguishing features of the Laiwakete's body of work. In tow were exquisite animal carvings including this double-sided turquoise Medicine-bear by Bernard. One side is meticulously inlaid from a jet and brass composite with an apple coral center, absolutely bold and beautiful. The other side hosts an alternating heartline from colorful apple coral. Coral eyes emit a gentle spirit from this approximately 4 1/8" long, 3/4" wide and 3" tall powerful Bear.
