Badgers live in New Mexico's majestic mountain meadows, vast grasslands and broad deserts. They are a healing animal for the A:Shiwi (Zuni) believed to help medicine men dig roots for healing. Claudia Peina's turquoise-eyed badger is close to Mother Earth measuring about 2 1/2" long, 1 7/8" wide and 1/2" tall. The burnished antler is creatively worked with cascading fur on both sides and a lovely cross-hatched portion along the top, representing a badger's classic fur markings.
