Badgers contribute to New Mexico's rich wildlife heritage. They are great diggers hollowing out homes using powerfully clawed paws. Deep in the burrow, they have constant contact with the roots that thrive there, gaining an intimate knowledge of their composition which helps Medicine Men. They are a protective and healing animal for the A:Shiwi (Zuni).
