A heartfelt antler Bear by Troy Sice. Smoothly sculpted from antler with pen shell eyes, jet inlaid clawed paws and a burnished nose, ears and tail. Troy inlaid tiny hand cut and polished cabochons of turquoise and coral honoring the medicine or lessons bear has to teach us. Troy brought us several of these small, more affordable bears, perfect for gifts. This one is just 1 3/4" tall, 7/8" wide, 1/2" deep.
Troy's uncle, Zuni artist Miguel Haloo(d) started the well-known standing bear style in the 1970's that is now associated with this family. Their lineage is from George Cheechee Haloo(d) and includes Claudine Hallo, Claudia Peina, and Gabriel Sice all of whom are talented carvers.
