The Indigenous Chumash People surrounding the Santa Barbara Channel believe their connection to the ocean and marine life is not only spiritual but familial. Dolphins are blood brothers and sisters, key members of Chumash creation stories. We can honor ocean friends by doing our share in keeping their homes clean by reducing, reusing and recycling non-biodegradable items including damaging plastics. Danette Laate's lovely alabaster dolphin joyfully jumps the waves. Eyes are from turquoise inlays and a Zuni Sunface symbol from turquoise, jet and coral is inlaid to this approximately 2 3/8" long, 1/2" wide and 1" tall wonderful water creature.
