Water is alive and listens to those who care for it. Sandra Quandelacy's double-sided iridescent gold lip shell carving depicts Zuni women who honor water's sacredness. We see Olla Maiden and daughter who hold a carved jar filled with crushed turquoise to represent water. Corn-Maiden with an etched corn body is nourished by the water. She in turns, nourish the A:Shiwi (Zuni). Confident facial features are etched and filled with jet paste. Colorful turquoise, coral, malachite, jet, lapis lazuli and alunite inlays adorn them. About 2 1/4" tall, 2" wide and 1/2" deep.
