Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez's mother was carver Georgia Quandelacy. Her late grandmother Ellen Quandelacy taught all her children the traditional art as she was taught by her father Johnny Quam. Kateri carves remarkable fetishes oozing feminine strength like this reversible turquoise one. Wise Grandmother's fringed shawl sways with movement while the reverse side hosts Corn Maiden who is etched with bountiful Corn kernels. Facial features are filled with jet paste. Lapis lazuli and red coral cabochons decorate this approximately 2" tall, 1 3/8" wide and 3/4" deep collectible carving.
