Old-Style Horse

By Lorandina Sheche

Animal: Horse, Material: Picasso Marble
This offering is sold.

A peaceful Horse makes us feel the passage of time, carved in the old-style by Lorandina Sheche. Her grandfather was the late Theodore Kucate, an early recognized Zuni Pueblo artist who used to collect rocks from the river to create his fetishes. His family was also famous because of their traveling traditional dance troupe. He taught his daughter Thelma Sheche who was Lorandina's mother, to carve. Sky-blue turquoise inlays grace this approximately 3 1/2" long, 1" wide and 1 1/8" tall collectible equine fetish from a gorgeous Picasso marble. Eyes are from turquoise.
