By Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez, Zuni-Acoma

Animal: Corn Maiden, Material: Nacozari Turquoise
This offering is sold.

Cherished for a natural sky blue color, the Mother Earth-born mineral called Nacozari turquoise is no longer mined in Sonora, Mexico. It's a vanishing piece of geological history, increasingly rare. Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez has brought us a gorgeous Corn-maiden carved from stunning Nacozari turquoise with an overlaid gold lip shell face. A red coral embellishment adorns, while individually etched corn kernels are given. Dragonfly and star elements are etched and filled with jet paste. Approximately 1 1/4" tall, 7/8" wide and 1/4" deep.
