Alpacas belong to the camel family. They are related to llamas. Peaceful animals, they were domesticated by Indigenous Peoples of South America in ancient times. Their luxurious fleece has been called The Fiber of the Gods. Melvin Sandoval's black marble alpaca is about 2 1/4" long, 5/8" wide and roughly 1 5/8" tall. An offering bundle has lovely heishe and turquoise nugget beads.
