For over 30 years, noted Zuni potter Carlos Laate has been creating soulful potteries that are inspired of his grandparents who were master potters. He shared that Mother Earth gives all the materials to work with, no traders or money are exchanged to get what is already provided. The natural clay he uses is sourced from the Nutria area of the reservation and local yucca fruit provides the dark paint pigments. Captivating spiral elements adorn this smaller and collectible pottery measuring about 3 1/2" long, 3 1/2" wide and 3 1/4" tall. Signed by the artist.
