Master carver Jeff Shetima's work can be best described as stone sculptures of animals in their own environment. The animals he creates have wonderful facial expressions and show muscular movement. Many are caught in mid-stride, maybe turning or looking up. Jeff says "every stone that I hold in my hands must be in harmony with me before I start a carving. Only with good thoughts, energy and feelings will I proceed to carve. This helps ensure that the positive energy will be internalized in the finished carving." A discerning Bobcat raises an etched paw. Eyes are from shell, perhaps pen shell or black lip shell inlays. Jeff's hallmark feature is micro inlay as seen on the mother-of-pearl point meticulously set stone to stone with turquoise, gold lip shell, pen shell and mother-of-pearl, absolutely stunning. Dimensions of this collectible wildcat are approximately 4 3/4" long, 1" wide and 2 1/2" tall, from Picasso marble, Jeff's favorite medium.
