DH Mavapu is an extraordinary potter from Zuni with Hopi ties known for his exquisite Owls beautifully hand-built from clay. His latest offering is a tablita headdressed raptor with beak, wings and tail feathers presented in three dimensions. "Mu:Shiwi" suggests it's a Zuni style owl which is complimented by the designs the owl is wearing. Every square inch of this work is colorful, interesting and pleasing to the eye. A wide-eyed expression reminds us that an owl can see what others cannot. Many Zuni homes have a pottery Night Grandfather Owl watching over them. About 8 1/2" tall, 6 1/2" wide and 4 5/8" deep.
