Thorny Osage Orange trees are a member of the Moraceae family native to the south-central region of the United States. The trees yield large round bumpy fruits with seeds that only squirrels and deer will eat. The durable and strong wood was traditionally used by Indigenous cultures to make bows and war clubs. To this day, the wood is still utilized in bow making. Peter Sohappy's fabulous fish pairing is carved from Osage Orange wood and painted with vibrant acrylics. The pair themselves measure about 7" long, 1 5/8" wide and 1 1/8" deep, while the soft sueded leather strap is approximately 20" long. Silver and red beads accent the leather.
