A rich line of Zuni artists descend from the late George Cheechee Haloo. He was an important innovator who started carving in the 1930's, known for his wonderful fetish necklaces. Today, Rosita Kaamasee carries on in the traditional art with collectible fetish necklaces honoring her family's legacy. She recently furnished us with a stunning, single strand fetish necklace consisting of many skillfully carved turquoise birds and
Bears, strung with lovely baby olive heishe beads. Each personality-plus creature has drilled eyes filled with jet paste, measuring about 3/4" to 1 1/8" long. The treasurable necklace is approximately 28" long.
