Owls are like the quintessential raptors of fairytales and storybooks, wonderfully mysterious in deep-hooting voices and quiet ways. The A:Shiwi (The People) call the owl “the Night Grandfather” because he does his work at night. Rounded eye sockets are accented with perhaps jet paste, while feathers are softly incised. Guardian bird and owlets measure approximately 3" long, 1 1/2" wide and 2 5/8" tall carved from one portion of antler.
