Animal: Bear, Material: Marble
This offering is sold.
An ancient Indigenous-carved spiral located at Chaco Canyon National Park in New Mexico is known as the Sun Dagger because of the way sunlight forms an image of a dagger going through the middle of the spiral during the summer solstice. Perhaps inspired by the Sun Dagger, Fabian Tsethlikai's black marble Medicine-Bear has been sgraffito-etched with a radiating spiral element with intersecting dagger, an alternating heartline or breath path, a hovering Dragonfly, corn, sun and raincloud elements. Soft gentle eyes are from turquoise inlays. About 1 3/4" long, 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" tall.
