Liam Simplicio is an amazing artist and a youth leadership councilor with the Zuni Youth Enrichment Project. There he completed the nonprofit youth organization’s first-ever Emerging Artist Apprenticeship. Through the program, Liam learned all about two-dimensional graphic design with Zuni Pueblo art instructors. He comes from a creative family anyway, his father is noted fetish carver Dan Simplicio, Jr., while his sister is a potter.
Liam's artistic style ranges from realistic oil paintings to boldly graphic abstractions such as this fabulous original colorful acrylic on canvas titled "Ripples". Perhaps this engaging composition celebrates the beneficial effects of shared unity and traditional pueblo values represented by a wonderful hand element. He stated "We have a Zuni expression that I really like: As long as we are all together, and hold each other as one, we will be strong.” Signed by the artist. About 14" high and 18" long.
