Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez is beloved for carving wonderful Corn-Maidens. In fact, her late aunt Faye Quandelacy was the first to carve Corn Maidens in small, table top form in the early 1980's spawning a family tradition. Kateri's small Corn Maiden (or Grandmother) from turquoise is adorned with incised stars and a Dragonfly. The slightly greener-hued turquoise is complimented by natural golden matrix. Facial features are etched and filled with jet paste. She carved her first Corn Maiden when she was about 10 years old. About 1 7/8" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 5/8" deep.
