Pacific green snail shell is also known as green turban shell. These large marine snails live in tropical oceans around Japan and the western Pacific. The unique natural watery environments create varying characteristics in each shell as seen in Gloria Chattin's reversible carving. The magical iridescence and textures are especially appealing. The Corn-Maidens are accompanied by etched Corn and Dragonflies. Colorful overlays include turquoise, lapis, malachite and red coral discs. Facial features are incised and filled with jet paste. The carving is permanently attached to a lovely base from vibrant lapis lazuli along with crushed turquoise to represent life-giving water that nourishing the gift of corn. About 3 1/4" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 1 1/8" deep, measurements include base.
