Amber resembles the rich honey a
Bear craves, the perfect material choice for Maxx Laate's approximately 1 5/8" long, 1" wide and 3/4" tall lounging cub. Turquoise eyes are inlaid to a precious face and a softly-etched paw pad is exposed. Maxx and his late brother Pernell Laate began carving in the mid-1980s. At that time they made their own tools but later used electric equipment, as many carvers do today. They would often visit wildlife magazines to refine the details in their artwork.
