Zuni artist Sandra Quandelacy comes from the innovative Quandelacy family of stone carvers and jewelers, well-known for their refined finishing work. The Corn Maiden carvings originate with the late Faye Quandelacy, Sandra Quandelacy and Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez.

We're thrilled to offer a stunning, single strand pendant necklace by Sandra with carved Kingman turquoise Grandmothers and Corn-Maidens. This exquisite double-sided necklace shows Corn Maidens with etched rows of corn kernels representing fertility. The Grandmother's single hair buns are styled to the back of the head, a special treat because we don't see many Grandmothers carved like this by Sandra. Red coral, lapis lazuli, serpentine, jet and perhaps onyx inlays adorn them. Facial features are etched and filled with jet paste. Little corn cobs are also beautifully sculpted and laced on the collectible necklace.

The necklace is strung with colorful jet, branch red coral, turquoise, lapis lazuli, shell, coral and sardonyx agate beads to a total length of about 34" including the 1 1/2" long sterling silver tips. The center Grandmother/Corn Maiden pendant measures approximately 2 1/2" long, 5/8" wide and 3/8" deep. The other women measure roughly 1 3/4" long, 1/2" wide and 1/4" deep. The precious corn cobs average about 1 1/4" long, 1/4" wide and 1/4" deep.
