An ibex (or mountain goat) is skillfully carved from antler by Maxx Laate. In 1970, the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish imported 15 ibex from Iran releasing them in the Deming, New Mexico area. Perhaps Maxx was inspired of the thriving ibex herd in the state. Backward-curving horns are gorgeous, ears are listening and turquoise inlaid eyes observe as this bearded wild goat reaches a lookout point. Cloven hooves easily scale rough terrain. About 4 3/4" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" deep.
