Calling a Zuni reservoir home, Calvert Bowannie's red-winged blackbird (or perhaps a magpie) displays colorful shoulder patches or epaulets from vibrant red apple coral overlaid on well-polished black marble. A red bead is held within a strong beak, while turquoise eyes are as blue as the sky. Red-winged blackbirds are medium-sized songbirds that live in wetland areas. The males will puff out wing epaulets to signal their status to other birds. About 3" long, 3/4" wide and 1" tall.
