Archaen or Archean butterstone is a variety of serpentine originating from South Africa. The name reflects its formation during Mother Earth's earliest geological period, the Archean. The late Edison Bobelu's parrot is sculpted from butterstone to a perched dimension of roughly 1 1/4" long, 7/8" wide and 1 3/8" tall. Plumage is nicely worked. Ready to chat eyes are from turquoise accented with ink, while a wonderful beak is from jet.
