Ray Tsalate's "Infinity Eagle Directional Set" is an extraordinary, all-in-one directional carving consisting of an antler Eagle with turquoise inlaid eyes, permanently mounted on a lovely point of spiny oyster shell. This raptor's body is inlaid with scrumptious materials to indicate wings, with coral, spiny oyster shell, jet, mother-of-pearl, gold lip shell, pen shell, lapis, turquoise, variscite and sugilite. Secured by a white leather tie and gorgeous aquamarine and aventurine beads, are the rest of the directional animals the Zuni Pueblo people recognize. They assign an animal and a color to each direction. We see a lapis Bear with red coral eyes, a black lip mother-of-pearl Wolf with pen shell eyes, a coral Badger with pen shell eyes, a gold lip shell Mountain-lion with jet eyes, a jet Mole with turquoise inlaid eyes and an abalone eagle with lapis eyes. These small animals are exquisitely carved and measure from about 1/2" to 1" long. Overall, this gorgeous work measures about 3 1/8" long, 2 1/2" tall and 1 3/4" wide.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this eagle fetish will go to the Zuni Eagle Sanctuary. Please see our resources page for more information on the sanctuary.
