The mother of the very large and talented Quandelacy Family, Ellen had a unique talent of her own, in making beautiful inlay jewelry as well as carving fetishes. Her Horses are widely collected, if you can find them, and they are easy to identify thanks to her singular style. Robin met the Quandelacys when she lived in Zuni in the early 80’s. Right away she recognized the family’s unique talent carving fetishes and naturally was drawn to Ellen’s old-style horses. Ellen always denoted the gender in her horses (and other domestic animals she made) so you can clearly see that this little green turquoise horse is a stallion! Only after Ellen passed in 2002, did children Andres, Stewart, and Georgia(d) begin carving horses. This special horse measures about 1 3/4" long by 1 1/4" tall and had drilled eyes.
