Corn-Maiden and Grandmother carvings by Sandra Quandelacy are often reversible, showing the stages of life. They are a celebration of the different seasons women enjoy throughout their lives from Maiden, full of potential; to Grandmother, the wise elder. Here we see the young Corn Maiden with traditionally whorled hair, each kernel of corn carefully and skillfully carved. On the reverse side we see the transition into a wise elder such as a Grandmother or Maiden Grandmother. Sculpted from iridescent gold lip shell, dimensions are about 3 1/2" tall, 1/2" wide and 7/8" deep.
