Evalena Boone
Evalena Boone descends from the late mid-century master carver Teddy Weahkee of Zuni Pueblo. Her mother is Lena Boone and her grandmother was Edna Leki. Lena’s wonderful family and Keshi go way back. In fact, Rignie who is Lena’s husband, would often visit Robin Dunlap's Zuni classroom during the 80's, as his daughter Evalena and son Leland were her students. After school, he would show her animal carvings and she would purchase many. After teaching in Zuni, Robin was one of the founding members of our cooperative Keshi, Inc. When you shop keshi.com you're supporting an Indigenous artist like Evalena who sets her own wholesale prices in keeping with our mission of supporting and promoting equitable treatment of artists.
We’re thrilled to share Evalena's divine horned Owl fetish necklace, one you must own. The charming raptors are sculpted from either happy turquoise or colorful spiny oyster shell and have wise eyes from either turquoise or red coral. The center bird is about 1 1/2” long, while the accompanying feathered friends are approximately 1” long. The collectible necklace is roughly 27” long laced with rich jet and iridescent gold lip shell beads. Signed by the artist.

Jovanna Poblano
Beloved sugilite's name honors the man who first noted it, Japanese petrologist Professor Ken-ichi Sugi from the Imperial University in Kyushu. He found sugilite on the Iwagi islet of Japan. This exquisite mineral was also found in the Wessels Mine in South Africa in 1979. The known reserves from this mine are spent. Sugilite has also been mined in India, Italy, Australia and Canada.
Sugilite is a cyclosilicate mineral with a similar chemical structure to tourmaline and aquamarine. The mineral characteristics of high-quality sugilite include a rich purple color, exhibiting natural gradients or wavy lines and a somewhat glassy, luminous quality. Inclusions are expected in genuine sugilite too. Healing energies are associated with sugilite said to encourage forgiveness and releasing those bound by resentment.
Jovanna Poblano's Dragonfly necklace dazzles the senses with very high quality sugilite cabochons caressed by tiny gold seed beads, intricately hand-beaded to a soft sueded leather backing. Complimenting stichtite and glowing rose quartz beads join the airy water creature on an approximately 19" long museum-quality necklace. The ethereal dragonfly station itself is about 6" long including lovely beaded trail and 4 1/4" wide. Signed by the artist.
Robert Eustace
Since ancient days, Indigenous cultures have held turquoise as a sacred mineral known to some as the Sky Stone. Magical properties including those of healing have been attributed to this happy gift from Mother Earth. Highly-valued, turquoise was used in trade with other groups since time immemorial. Zuni elder and noted jeweler Robert Eustace's sterling silver belt buckle features an array of tear drop shaped turquoise stones each beautifully carved. The surrounding border has been filed by hand enhancing this striking belt buckle that's about 3 1/4" long and 2 1/2" wide. It will fit a 1 1/2" belt. Not only is the texture appealing to the eyes but feels wonderful too. Signed by the artist.
Joel Pajarito, Kewa (Santo Domingo)
Butterflies dance in the air never far off from the first blooms in summer gardens. Once an earth bound caterpillar, they miraculously metamorphous to a sky creature delighting us with their light movement and colorful beauty. Joel Pajarito's tufa cast sterling silver and turquoise butterfly brings that message of transformation and hope. Including bale, dimensions are about 1 1/2" long and 1" wide. We love the reversible nature of this precious pendant.
Nelson Yatsattie
Sgraffito is a decorative art form where a surface layer is cut or etched away to expose a different colored ground. Nelson Yatsattie utilized this age-old technique of ornamentation to create a pair of furry Bison. We love mother's extended tail creatively expressing protective love for her baby. The parent's mane is so lush it cascades clear down to the hoof area. Sculpted from one portion of black marble, the powerful mother buffalo and calf together measure approximately 5 1/2" long, 1 1/4" wide and 2" tall. Eyes are from turquoise inlays.
Clive Hustito
Clive Hustito's delightful Turtle pairing just emerged from a watery environment. Peaceful and assuring are the words that come to mind in describing the personalities of the reptiles, as well as the gorgeous portion of Picasso marble. Eyes are from amazing azurite inlays. Turtles are esteemed because they carry their home where ever they go. In Zuni Pueblo, turtle shells are prized for making rattles used by the Rain Dancers. This mother and hatchling duo are about 3" long, 2 1/4" wide and 1" tall.
Vaughn Kaskalla
Vaughn Kaskalla's endearing mother Bear and sleeping cub have been engagingly carved from one gorgeous dolomite specimen. Flowing ribbons with pink and rosy red hues exist in this stone. With an adorable turquoise-eyed expression on her face, mother patiently lets her cub snooze, shown by its sweetly incised eyes. About 5 3/8" long, 1 3/4" wide and 3" tall.
