The Mother Corn Earrings

By Tracey Bowekaty

This offering is sold.
Zunis and other Indigenous societies were farmers growing corn as a sustenance crop. Planted and harvested today, corn is called "The Mother" because it’s cultivated from “Mother Earth”. A gorgeous setting from sterling silver husks and three ball elements host carved orange spiny oyster shell corn earrings by Tracey Bowekaty. Colorful turquoise, malachite, alunite and jet inlays accent the individual kernels. Including the hooks, measurements are about 1 1/2" long and 3/4" wide on these lightweight earrings. Signed by the artist.
