Bears in New Mexico are opportunistic hunters even catching fish to supplement their diet. Rosella and Loubert Soseeah's incredible onyx bear holds an iridescent abalone trout with turquoise eyes in its powerful jaws. The mighty hunter who also has eyes from turquoise inlays, totes an offering bundle representing gratitude consisting of a gorgeous red abalone point with heishe, both blue and green turquoises plus branch red coral beads. Bear (Anshe in Zuni) is the principal animal for the Pueblo People and they are the most prevalent subject of Zuni animal carvings. About 2 1/4" long, 1 1/4" wide and 1 5/8" tall.
